20 Φεβ 2024 · Safety helmets don’t actually come stamped with an expiration date, but they do have a date of manufacture stamp that you can use to calculate the maximum lifespan. The stamp is as easy to read as a clock face, but it’s up to you to figure out when the helmet should be replaced.

As a reminder, NFPA recommends the replacement of fire helmets every 10 years. Maintenance on leather helmets is intended to be minimal. Inspecting the helmets after use for cracks is obviously important but maintaining the helmet’s exterior paint coating is also important for protecting the leather core.
