I hated the entire process of trying to study for it and made several blunders in my studying approach that led to me rescheduling the test to give myself some more time to prepare. Here are some of my tips on things that helped and things I really suggest people avoid when prepping for the exam.
I tried not to learn them too much, but on the test I did fall back on the tip a couple times that if nothing else at all has been done (ie if the test taking social worker has just walked into the hypothetical room) acknowledge feelings first.
I purchased the ASWB practice exam two days before the test and barely passed it. It was all vignettes and almost no recall questions. I studied the wording in the ASWB questions and really reviewed the ones I got wrong.
I took the four 4-hour comprehensive class on “How to Break down Questions” and two advanced classes. The strategies really helped me answer the questions. I thought I was hallucinating while taking the test. I was hearing Liz's voice saying "best, best, best." I highly recommend her classes!
