Since pop tabs are aluminum and can be recycled, there are fund-raising projects that collect them and donate the proceeds to charity. One charity told us that a truckload of cans yields about $10 at the recycler while a truckload of tabs yields about $1,000.
Some Chapters raise thousands of dollars with pop tab collections. What are pop tabs? Our pop tab program collects aluminum tabs only, like the ones found on soda cans. Many other products, like animal food, use tab systems but may not be made of aluminum.
A pop tab is the flip top on aluminum cans. You can collect them from soda cans, sparkling water cans and various other beverage cans. We also take tabs from soup, fruit, vegetable and pet food cans that have tabs.
Pop off those tabs from your beverage and soda cans. Save them in any container. Bring your tabs to any Trademark Metals Recycling location and let them know your donation is on behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida.
