It uses sold Ebay listings, so it's a pretty accurate average. Problems do arise when it shows a sale for a limited card like a /299 or SP on a common card.
For those who don't, it's a great app/website for pricing cards. It shows recent and past ebay sales and gives an average price on a card. You can even search for comic book and TCG prices and other items as well. I seen people at the local card show using it but I was wondering how popular it is.

I have my entire collection entered in it (12,000+ cards). Its part of my ripping routine, I enter every card as I open the packs. Lets me slowly and carefully inspect and enter and sleeve. Be wary of the value it shows, its an average of sales. Even if the last sale was long ago or only 1 sale.
