The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, also known as the Saint Louis Cathedral, is a Catholic cathedral in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Completed in 1914, it is the mother church of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the seat of Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski.
The Cathedral Basilica is open from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. Self-guided tours do not require reservations, however, we strongly encourage visitors to call and ensure the church is available, especially on the weekends, due to weddings, funerals, Archdiocesan events, and other weekend activities.

The Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, also known as the “Old Cathedral,” was established in 1764 by Pierre Laclede and Auguste Chouteau, who founded the city of St. Louis only one year earlier. The Old Cathedral was the first Catholic church, and the first church of any denomination, established west of the Mississippi River.
