Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church is a Roman Catholic church located at 629 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. It is the oldest existing church in the city of Detroit, [2] and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1971. [1] [2]

23 Νοε 2022 · Peter and Paul. Its cornerstone dates to 1844, when Bishop Peter Paul Lefevere began construction on this Cathedral for a city of 12,000. As the church kicks off its 175th anniversary year, it celebrates a legacy of extraordinary impact on Detroit, as well as a vibrant and promising future.
Saints Peter and Paul is the oldest church building in continuous use remaining in the City of Detroit. It was Detroit’s original, consecrated cathedral for just shy of 30 years. The cornerstone was laid by Bishop Peter Paul LeFevere in 1844, but the building was constructed on a pay-as-you-go basis (debt-free) and was not finished until 1848.
