The aim of the present article is firstly to assess the main symptoms of the party-state’s legitimacy crisis in the year 2016, and, secondly, to focus on the major strategies adopted by the Chinese Communist Party to deal with its legitimacy crisis.
6 Μαΐ 2016 · The Standing Committee of the State Council (SCSC) is the principal government institu-tion in China and is often referred to as the “Chinese Cabinet. ” This article seeks to explain how the SCSC fulfills two functions that are required in all government executives: coordi-nation and the resolution of disputes.
The article challenges two popular accounts of the State Council that underplay its role in Chinese politics by either attributing all authority up to the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party or downward to the bureaucracies.
This chapter examines the lawmaking system of the Chinese State Council. It suggests that even if Marxism–Leninism is eliminated, China would still be a developing country with a Confucian-influenced political culture and state system which is basically parliamentary in structure.
