The stratosphere is a layer of extremely stratified air that rises 40 kilometres above the tropopause and comprises about 20% of the atmosphere’s mass. A two-step reactive mechanism produces ozone in the stratosphere naturally.
These ozone molecules form a gaseous layer in the upper atmosphere, in the layer known as the stratosphere. This lower region of the stratosphere that contains a relatively higher concentration of ozone is called the Ozonosphere located 15-35 km above the earth’s surface.
Earth’s atmosphere is composed of about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and one percent other gases. These gases are found in atmospheric layers (troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere) defined by unique features such as temperature and pressure.
8 Μαρ 2024 · Earth's atmosphere is split into four layers: troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere. These layers are separated because of how hot or cold they are. The lower layers are where weather happens, like rain and wind, while cool things like the pretty aurora occur in the higher layers.
The stratosphere is a region of intense interactions among radiative, dynamical, and chemical processes, in which the horizontal mixing of gaseous components proceeds much more rapidly than does vertical mixing.
The stratosphere is located below the mesosphere and above the troposphere. The stratosphere contains the ozone layer which is the most important layer as it protects the earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays emitted from the sun.
Stratosphere is the region where about 90 % of ozone is formed. Ozone (chemical formula: O 3 ) is a gas that is formed by the action of the sun’s rays on oxygen present in the stratosphere. Ozone is important as it absorbs harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.
