Testing for sulfate ion (Sulphate | SO 4 2-) in Qualitative Analysis. There are several tests for sulfate ion to identify from other anions in qualitative analysis. Some of metal sulfate compounds are soluble in water and some metal sulfates form precipitates.
A reaction with dilute sulfuric acid gives a metal sulfate and hydrogen. A reaction with dilute hydrochloric acid gives a metal chloride and hydrogen. As with the reactions with water, there are odd cases where the reactivity isn't quite what you would expect.
12 Αυγ 2024 · The blue colour of the CuSO 4 solution fades as colourless magnesium sulfate solution is formed. Copper coats the surface of the magnesium and also forms solid metal which falls to the bottom of the beaker. Displacement reaction between magnesium and copper (II) sulfate.
1 Ιουν 2022 · The behavior of galvanized steel exposed to strong alkaline solutions (pH values of 12.7) with a fixed concentration of sulfate ions of 0.04 M is studied here.
Mg(s) + Cu 2+ (aq) + SO 4 2-(aq) → Mg 2+ (aq) + SO 4 2-(aq) + Cu(s) Notice that sulfate ions, SO 4 2- (aq), appear on both sides of the equation. They do not take part in the reaction.
Which solution could be used to precipitate the barium ion, Ba 2+, in a water sample: sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, or sodium sulfate? What is the formula for the expected precipitate? Answer. sodium sulfate, BaSO 4
17 Οκτ 2021 · Simple test tube reactions can be done to identify the following ions: Group 2 ions (M 2+) Ammonium ions (NH 4 +) Halide ions (X-) Hydroxide ions (OH-) Carbonate ions (CO 3 2-) Sulfate ions (SO 4 2-) If the sample to be tested is a solid, then it must be dissolved in deionised water and made into an aqueous solution
