It has abundant water resources with water availability of 5,302 m3/year/capita, which varies according to topography and season. River basins
Because of the high rainfall, there is generally an abundance of surface water. The major river basins generate about 455 million cubic meters of runoff annually. The report presents a current assessment of the Philippines’ water supply and sanitation sector, and the strategic investment priorities of the Government of the Philippines and Asian Development Bank (ADB) regarding it.
The country’s surface water use is largely devoted to agriculture, with irrigation, livestock, and fisheries representing 86% of total water use.
