In October 2011, in an effort to reduce the burden of per-tussis in infants, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended that unvaccinated pregnant women receive a dose of tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap) (1).
Dosage and Schedule. One dose of Tdap vaccine is 0.5 mL. All healthy pregnant women during each pregnancy. Administer one dose of Tdap between 27 and 32 weeks gestation. Pregnant women at high risk for preterm delivery. Administer one dose of Tdap between 13 and 26 weeks gestation.
Vaccination is particularly important for in-dividuals who are pregnant or contemplating pregnancy because COVID-19 infection increases the risk of complica-tions during pregnancy. Refer to CDC guidance for most recent recommendations (7 –10).
