California state laws and regulations require individuals pursuing credentials authorizing service in California’s public schools to verify proficiency in a number of areas. The required level of proficiency may be verified by passing one or more Commission-approved examinations.
TEAC's goal is to support the preparation of competent, caring, and qualified professional educators. TEAC's primary work is accrediting undergraduate and graduate professional education programs in order to assure the public about the quality of college and university programs.
The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is an agency in the Executive Branch of California State Government. It was created in 1970 by the Ryan Act and is the oldest of the autonomous state standards boards in the nation.
The NCATE- and TEAC- accredited EPPs are CAEP-eligible until such time as the CAEP accreditation review process is completed. The Educator Preparation Providers (EPPs) listed here have been accredited as of October 2016 , as reported by the accrediting organization.
