To correctly determine a Place Code, first you will need to know the Fire Protection Area’s (FPA) name (issued by ISO), and the county for the risk location. Then, find that FPA’s name listed under Community in our Place Code list, and use the corresponding five-digit numeric code in the Place Code column.
For each fire protection area, ISO assigns a Public Protection Classification code — a number from 1 to 10. Class 1 represents exemplary fire protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area's fire-suppression program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria.
