Zona 1 This is the most central and oldest section of the city, home to the Plaza Mayor, Metropolitan Cathedral, and National Theater, as well as many budget hotels, stores, and restaurants.
27 Νοε 2022 · For you as a traveler, Zona 1, 4, 10 and 13 are the most interesting places to visit in Guatemala City. Zona 1 has the most historic buildings, squares and the Guatemala City cathedral. This is also the best area around town to find affordable hotels and hostels and restaurants.
The most important zones from a tourist point of view are Zone 1 (the Old Town), Zone 10 (where the nicest hotels and shops are clustered) and Zone 13 (the airport). You will need maps for getting around and these are best obtained from the tourist information office on the Avenida 7 or from the Sophos bookstore on the Plaza Fontabella.
