The Town of Charlotte, Vermont was chartered in 1762. It is situated in the fertile Champlain Valley, comprised of a series of hills and ridges overlooking Lake Champlain. With its 3,977 residents (per 2020 census), Charlotte hosts 53 working farms that are flourishing on the productive Champlain Valley soils.

Charlotte / ʃ ɑːr ˈ l ɒ t / is a town in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. The town was named for Queen Charlotte , though unlike Charlotte, North Carolina , Charlottesville, Virginia , and other cities and towns that bear her name, the town's name is pronounced with the accent on the second syllable.
10 Αυγ 2023 · The revised petition reads: “The town shall have a town manager form of governance per Title 24 Chapter 37, with the town manager’s duties per 24 V.S.A. § 1236, except for the duties of the road commissioner, which shall continue to be performed by an elected road commissioner.”
15 Αυγ 2018 · In typical Wentworth style, the town (originally “Charlotta”) is named for Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the 17-year-old niece of Germany’s Duke Frederick of Mecklenburg. She became George’s wife shortly after he succeeded to the throne in 1760.
22 Νοε 2023 · Charlotte has a unique arrangement with no municipal highway department. Instead, the town contracts the service with a yearly elected road commissioner, Hugh Lewis Jr., who leases his building for the town’s use.
