As submitted, the Board of Education budget reflected a 5.95% increase in appropriations over last year. I suggested a further reduction of $1,142,152 to achieve a 4.5% increase, in line with General Government Operations.

Each town maintains control of its public schools through its Board of Education (CGS §10-240). Boards of Education are responsible for implementing the educational interests of the state ( CGS §10-220 ).

Russo recommended that a motion be made to reinstate the $78,030.74 that was removed from the School Board’s recommended budget.
