VVT-i, or Variable Valve Timing with intelligence, is an automobile variable valve timing petrol engine technology manufactured by Toyota Group and used by brands Groupe PSA (Peugeot and Citroen), Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Daihatsu, Subaru, Aston Martin, Pontiac and Lotus Cars.
25 Οκτ 2024 · The 2AZ-FE engine is equipped with ETCS-i (Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent), VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) on the intake camshaft, Sequential MPFI fuel injection system, DIS (Direct Ignition System) with one ignition coil for each spark plug.
19 Ιουν 1995 · The VVT-i engine increases low- and medium-speed torque by controlling, in advance, intake valve closing in the low- and medium-speed ranges. With an increase in engine speed, the timing for closing the intake valve is retarded to raise output.
The engine has aluminum DOHC 16-valve cylinder head with variable valve timing system VVTi on the intake camshaft only. The 2AZ uses a timing chain to rotate camshafts. There are no hydraulic lifters. The adjustment of valve clearance is required every 60,000 miles (100,000 km).
For the intake camshaft, engineers installed the Toyota's VVT-i system (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence). After 2015, when the engine was slightly upgraded, the VVT-i became available for both intake and exhaust camshafts - Dual VVT-i.
The Toyota 1ZR-FE is a DOHC, 16-valve, 1.6 L (1,598 cc) engine equipped with dual VVT-i. This engine is available with either manual gearbox (5 or 6 Speed), a "multi-mode" manual transmission (MM-T 5 Speed) or an automatic gearbox (4 Speed).
