1 Ιαν 2017 · Trade Policy in the Philippines. Treading a Cautious Path. Jose L Tongzon. The Philippines has been an active supporter of the WTO and the interests of the developing countries while it is fully committed to the realization of an ASEAN economic integration.
The opening section - “key trade facts” - provides a visual overview of the WTO member’s major exports/imports, main export destinations, origins for its imports and other key data. This edition looks into the trade practices of Philippines.
Trade Policy. As judged by the Trade (MFN) Tariff Restrictiveness Index (TTRI), on which it is ranked 45th out of 125 countries, the Philippines’s tariff regime is less restrictive, on the whole, than that of an average East Asia and Pacific (EAP) or lower‐middle‐income country.
24 Ιαν 2024 · PJEPA is the Philippines’ only bilateral free trade agreement, covering, among others, trade in goods, trade in services, investments, movement of natural persons, intellectual property, customs procedures, improvement of the business environment, and government procurement.
Trade Policy. Philippine Development Plan: Promoting Trade and Investments. Expand markets, and diversify sources for the cumulation of raw and intermediate materials, and increase competitiveness. Government to adopt a purposive, assertive, and forward-looking position in negotiating regional trade agreements.

Trade indicators show the heavy concentration of Philippine exports on three major products groups: electronics, garments and textiles and auto parts. Within these major product groups, exports are highly concentrated in low value added and labor-intensive products sectors.
