Objective. To identify and synthesize research on in-service nurse mentoring programs. Methods. We reviewed nurse mentoring research from six databases.
Nursing homes need to establish and sustain mentorship programmes to help improve workforce capacity in delivering high-quality care for residents.
While the theory of Mentoring up would benefit from testing and further refinement, including the perspective of the mentor, it is a strong starting point to provide a foundation for a critical professional responsibility in nursing.
