  3. This paper identifies the core conceptual differences between traditional and critical theories of undergraduate peer mentorship and advances a grounded, critical framework for undergraduate peer mentoring.

  4. We recognize the significance of mentoring as an important form of socialization (see Chao, Chapter 7) that changes mentors and protégés in physiological, mental, emotional, and perhaps even spiritual ways (see Boyatzis, Chapter 18).
