Transposition chart for capo. A capo, or capo tasto in full length, is a device used for change the key without changing the tuning. Attach the capo around the guitar neck on a fret that you choose and the pitch is raised (place the capo over the fretboard as you would do with your index finger playing a barre chord).

The major scales and the letter names that go with each of the keys are important to troubadours. This chart shows the major scale positions for each of the 12 keys. The 1-4-5 positions are shown in red. We sing songs in all of the 12 keys. Guitars usually play in C, G, D, A and E.
When you want to change keys, you simply find the key that you're in (the I chord) and move to the key you want to transpose to. Let's take "Blowing In The Wind" by Bob Dylan. It's in the key of G and the chord chart has G, C, D (the I, IV, and V chords).
HOW TO USE THE TRANSPOSING CHART. Say the song is in the key of C major and the first three chords of the song are D min7 | G 7 | C maj7. Decide which key you wish to move to. For example say that you want to transpose into the key of F major.
