If you are travelling with a pet or planning to import an animal to Canada, you will need the right paperwork at the border to meet Canada's import requirements. If you don't, you risk experiencing delays at the border and your animal may not be allowed into Canada.
Breed, gender, age, and color of the pet. Date of vaccination and vaccine expiration. Name and signature of the veterinarian. Ensure the vaccination is done at least 30 days before travel, as some airlines and border officials may not permit entry without this waiting period. Additional Health Certificate Requirements.
Talk to your veterinarian to consider the risks of travelling and confirm that your dog is healthy and has all the required tests, vaccinations and treatments to enter Canada and the country you are travelling to.
Each dog must meet the CDC's requirements: From August 1, 2024, Onward: Entry Requirements for Dogs from Dog-Rabies Free or Low-Risk Countries. Dogs from Canada that have also been in a country at high-risk for dog rabies in the 6 months before travelling to the U.S.
1 Αυγ 2024 · As of August 1, 2024: New rules for dogs entering the US. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is changing the import requirements for dogs entering the US from Canada. Before heading to the border with an animal, make sure you are aware of Canadian import and travel requirements.
Before you leave Canada, contact the embassy of your destination country about its requirements for importing animals. The Canadian International Health Certificate may be used to accompany pet dogs and cats to other countries.
