Abstract. Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease of the skin that commonly affects women of childbearing age. Some of the medications used in the treatment of CLE are safe in pregnancy, whereas others are contraindicated based on their teratogenic effects.
12 Μαρ 2019 · Hydroxychloroquine, azathioprine and corticosteroids can be used during pregnancy and may reduce the risk of adverse outcomes. Similarly, appropriate therapy needs to be instituted for hypertensive diseases in pregnancy. Anticoagulant therapy may be necessary for patients with antiphospholipid syndrome.
To date, no recommendations have been published specifically for the treatment of this condition in pregnant women, so therapeutic strategies are mainly based on recommendations for general population and other rheumatologic and dermatologic diseases during pregnancy.
