Trout Pond is one of the most active geological areas in the GWNF. Limestone eroded by ground water can cause sinkholes to enlarge or form very quickly here. The region is a honeycomb of limestone caves and voids, and Trout Pond itself is an extremely large sinkhole fed by a stream.

21 Μαΐ 2020 · Trout Pond Campground is located adjacent to the only natural lake in West Virginia and a beautiful small reservoir. This is a great place to hike, fish, canoe and swim. There are 36 total campsites with 11 electric and 25 non-electric. Facilities include a bath house with showers and water spigots.

The campground is normally open from mid May to the end of October. 35 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 30 and 99 feet. All sites are currently reservable.
