The trailhead begins roughly ¾ a mile up Tunnel Road and climbs for nearly 4 miles to Gibraltar Road, at roughly 3,400 feet elevation. Visitors are likely to encounter: hikers/joggers, dogs, bikers, and poison oak.

Described here is the basic trail from the trailhead to La Cumbre Peak, the highest peak in Santa Barbara at 3995ft. Tunnel Trail begins at the end of Tunnel Road and climbs up to the top of the mountains with many side trails and dirt roads connecting and branching from it.

The Inspiration Point Trailhead is located in a residential neighborhood just off Tunnel Road. You’ll know that you’re close when you begin to see cars lining the right side of the road—like we said, it’s a popular hike!
1 Ιαν 2011 · A historic trail constructed in 1905, Tunnel Trail provides access to the backcountry as well as a hike to the area's highest spot — La Cumbre Peak. Though damaged during the 2008 Jesusita Fire, the trail still rpovides access to incredible views and unique geology.
