The Tyrrhenian Sea is part of the Mediterranean Sea and lies between the western coast, the Italian peninsula and the islands of Sardinia, Corsica and Sicily. It has a surface area of around 275,000 km2. The sea is named after the Tyrrhenian people, that have identified with the Etruscans of Italy.
