The Master of Social Work program prepares advanced generalist social workers who: Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in advanced generalist practice. Advance human rights and social, racial, economic, and environmental justice in advanced generalist practice.
The University of Alaska Anchorage Master of Social Work program is a distance-delivered, advanced generalist MSW program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education that prepares graduates for clinical social work practice, policy practice, and social work leadership.
The UAA Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) prepares students for professional social work practice. The mission of the BSW is to prepare generalist social workers who collaborate with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
Students take some school counseling and social work classes like Social-Emotional Development, Assessment and Intervention, and Issues in Early Childhood Education. Those who complete this specialization meet some of the requirements for becoming a certified school social worker in Alaska.
