The course placement and academic credit policies that were in effect when you first enrolled at Illinois are the ones that apply to you. Please check the archives for your academic year to see whether you will get any credit for your exam score.
You’ll receive credit for any transferable college course that appears on an official post-secondary transcript. If you enroll, the grades you’ve earned in that course will be part of your cumulative GPA. Several examining boards award Advanced Level (A-Level) certificates.
Students can apply elective credit towards their graduation requirements. Students should consult with their academic advisor to determine how this test-based credit may best be used to meet their specific curriculum and program requirements.
Illinois will continue to award academic credit for strong performance on all AP exams. The credit policies below apply to all undergraduate students entering Illinois in Summer 2021, Fall 2021, or Spring 2022. Only scores resulting in credit are shown.
Current University of Illinois undergraduate students should contact their college office for information on transfer credit restrictions prior to enrolling in courses at other institutions. Students may use Transferology to view what coursework will transfer to the university.
