Cubital tunnel syndrome is compression or irritation of the ulnar nerve in a tunnel on the inside of the elbow (where your 'funny bone' is). Ulnar neuropathy is diagnosed by a combination of history, physical examination, and nerve function testing (nerve conduction studies). Patients suffering from ulnar neuropathy most commonly complain of numbness and tingling in the ring, little finger, and palm on that side of the hand.
When the ulnar nerve is compressed constantly at the elbow, Cubital Tunnel Syndrome can develop. When patients complain of pain and numbness in their pinky (5th) finger and sometimes in their ring (4th) finger, it is usually Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. Diagnosis. A physical examination of the patient’s arm and hand is important for a diagnosis.
