15 Απρ 2024 · For the two-handed backhand player, we prefer the use of the continental grip on the bottom hand and the Eastern forehand grip on the top hand. Players using extreme grips (Western) place their wrist and forearm in positions that place additional stress on the muscles, tendons, and ligaments and can predispose them to injury.

A wrist tendinopathy is an overuse injury of one of the tendons around the wrist. Usually it involves the extensor tendon, which is located at the ulnar side of the wrist (Figure 1). The forehand, two-handed backhand, and grips that place the wrist in ulnar deviation (i.e., semiwestern and western grips) predispose tennis players to ulnar-sided wrist injuries .
