Though we have never been known for our emo music scene, LA has still birthed some of the most interesting bands within the genre. Emo seems to be on the rise again so we put a list together of 12 bands, past and present worth reading up on and definitely worth listening to!
underground emo shows, emo bars, anything emo.... Hard to come by, feels like once a scene starts to form it quickly goes away. Stable spots in the SoCal area are def Programme Skate in Fullerton when the occasional Emo band swings by, there was also Riff Mountain but RIP. Old spot but RIP to VLHS.
24 Απρ 2024 · Under fluorescent lights that made everything look a bit gray, it looked like an eerie padlocked self-storage facility – the sounds of banda, ranchera, mariachi, jazz, and punk were barely muffled as we passed door after door.
The only other one I know about is Alex's in Long Beach, but that's a true punk rock bar and lots of shows there. If you're talking about new emo (NOT like Jawbreaker/Texas is the Reason/etc.) and teeny bopper poppunk (stuff NOT like Lookout! Records), then I think you're outta luck.
