In optics, a diffraction grating is an optical grating with a periodic structure that diffracts light, or another type of electromagnetic radiation, into several beams traveling in different directions (i.e., different diffraction angles).
Diffraction Grating Formula. A diffraction grating is made by making many parallel scratches on the surface of a flat piece of some transparent material. It is possible to put some large number of scratches per cm on the material. For example, the grating to be used has 6,000 lines per cm on it.
