James Joseph Larrañaga [1] (/ ˌ l ɛər ə ˈ n eɪ ɡ ə / LAIR-ə-NAY-gə; born October 2, 1949) is a college basketball coach and the head coach of the University of Miami Hurricanes men's basketball team since 2011.
Bruce Hale, who led the Hurricanes to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1960, is the school's all-time leader in games coached and wins. Leonard Hamilton was named UPI National Coach of the Year in 1995. Jim Larrañaga is the current coach of the Hurricanes and was named the AP Coach of the Year in 2013. [3]

On April 4, 2013, Larrañaga was voted the Associated Press' college basketball coach of the year. [6] A week later, the Hurricanes advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament with their school-record 29th win.
