This collection of illustrations, featuring our campus’s most iconic characters and locations, is the work of renowned artist (and UC Davis alum) Steven Noble, whose distinctive work can be found on the packaging and promotions of many of the world’s most recognizable brands.
Gunrock is the official mascot of the UC Davis Aggies, the athletic teams that represent the University of California, Davis, and was based on Gunrock (1914–1932), an American Thoroughbred stallion, and the son of English Triple Crown winner Rock Sand. [2]
30 Νοε 2016 · Gunrock has a new look — and it is fierce. The beloved Aggie mascot, a brilliant blue mustang, became official in 2003, when students chose him by 98 percent of the vote (he’s named after the military breeding horse Gun Rock that stayed at UC Davis from 1921 to 1931).
23 Νοε 2022 · The UC Davis Athletic department announces a new, updated digital look for Gunrock. Aggie fans will soon be seeing a new version of their favorite horse in their inboxes, at sporting events and on decor around campus as the first in a series of animated Gunrock designs is released.
