For a used ATV – a completed Affidavit of Sale or Transfer (PDF) (MV-51) plus the MCO or MSO; or, a New York State transferable registration signed over to you by the previous owner. If your ATV has never been registered and you do not have these acceptable documents, you must complete and submit a Statement of Ownership (PDF) (MV-51B) .
A DMV-licensed automobile dealer must have acceptable proof of ownership for a vehicle before they can sell that vehicle to you. Most New York State automobile dealers send the application for your vehicle registration and title certificate to the DMV.
For a used ATV or UTV, a New York State transferable registration signed over to you by the previous owner. Note that if your ATV or UTV has never been registered and you do not have one of the above documents, you must complete and submit a “Statement of Ownership” (MV-51B).
