- ANNUAL REPORT AND PLAN
More than 70 years ago, our five founding mothers had a dream to build a hospital in the Central Valley just for children. Valley Children’s Healthcare (Valley Children’s) has grown and flourished ever since, caring for generations of children since 1952.
Welcome to our 2023 Annual Impact Report, where we celebrate successes, our community impact and pivotal moments in our mission to deliver high-quality care for kids and families in the Central Valley.
Children’s health outcomes are largely determined by where children live, learn and play. Across the Central Valley, children experience high rates of obesity, asthma, food insecurity and trauma, poor access to healthcare and unsafe sleeping environments. Across the counties we serve, children experience vastly different health outcomes.
These results cover various aspects such as patient outcomes, safety measures, infection rates, and patient satisfaction scores. Ensuring high-quality care is central to our mission in serving the children and families of the Central Valley and we’re proud to showcase our best-in-class outcomes.
Valley Children’s has once again been ranked as a Top Children’s Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for our exceptional achievements in patient safety and quality of care. Only eight children’s hospitals in the U.S. received this honor, putting Valley Children’s in the top 3% in the country for quality and safe care.
Valley Children’s Patient Volume. In 2020, Valley Children’s had 10,727 inpatient admissions, 84,720 Emergency Department visits, and 256,544 hospital-based outpatient specialty care center, regional specialty care center, primary care center, and urgent care center visits.
