14 Απρ 2018 · “Composition VIII” was painted ten years later in 1923. It is a logical development of the creative genius of the painter and to a certain extent it reflects the influence of Suprematism and Constructivism assimilated by Kandinsky in Russia and in the Bauhaus.

Composition VIII has a long and obscure history. Kandinsky himself considered it to be the acme of his early Bauhaus period. No formal element can morphologically be related to any figurative prototype.
Kandinsky regarded Composition 8 as the high point of his postwar achievement. In this work circles, triangles, and linear elements create a surface of interacting geometric forms. The importance of circles in this painting foreshadows the dominant role they would play in many subsequent works.
