Compare risks and benefits of common medications used for Ventricular Arrhythmia. Find the most popular drugs, view ratings and user reviews.
5 Σεπ 2024 · Antiarrhythmics, such as sodium and potassium channel blockers (e.g., quinidine, amiodarone), treat a broader range of arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia. Other important medications used include digoxin and anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) in those with atrial fibrillation who are at high risk of stroke.
Amiodarone and sotalol are the principal agents used in the chronic treatment of VT. In addition, dronedarone and dofetilide, agents approved for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, and ranolazine, an antianginal agent, have been demonstrated to be protective against ventricular arrhythmia in small clinical studies.
The primary indications for all class I drugs are ventricular tachyarrhythmias (ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation) and for class Ia and Ic drugs, supraventricular tachyarrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardias).
24 Οκτ 2024 · Each type of medication has a specific function to prevent a blood clot from forming or causing a blocked blood vessel, heart attack or stroke. Learn the types of medications used to treat arrhythmias that can help prevent heart attack and stroke.
28 Φεβ 2024 · Drugs include lidocaine and mexiletine. These drugs shorten the QTc interval, are used for ventricular arrhythmias only, especially post-myocardial infarction VA, and are not helpful for atrial arrhythmias. In long QT syndrome, mexiletine shortens the QTc interval and has been used to reduce recurrent and ICD arrhythmias.
Clinical scenarios for catheter ablation in the acute and long-term management of ventricular arrhythmias. AAD = antiarrhythmic drug; CAD = coronary artery disease; PVC = premature ventricular contractions; SMVT = sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia; VF = ventricular fibrillation; other abbreviations as in Table 1.
