19 Ιαν 2016 · Fronted by Nina Gordon and Louise Post, the band, named after a character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, had a fairly sizable hit on their hands with “Volcano Girls.” From the 1997 album Eight Arms to Hold You, the song is the epitome of fun, catchy rock music.
" Volcano Girls " is a single by the American alternative rock band Veruca Salt, released in 1997 on their album Eight Arms to Hold You. It was written by Nina Gordon who also sang lead vocals, with Louise Post performing backup vocals. This song was used at the beginning of the dark comedy movie Jawbreaker, released in 1999.
In both cases they're referencing their own previous song ("Seether" for Veruca Salt, "I Am the Walrus" for the Beatles) that people had tried to puzzle out the lyrics to, then revealing something about the song's meaning (via their bandmate - Louise or Paul) that actually just makes it more confusing and mysterious.
