My addiction faded with WoTLK (don't get me wrong, amazing expansion) and I played WoW just like a game. Since Cataclysm, I never had a strong communication with a guild ever again like I had in TBC and WoTLK. Do any of you experienced addiction to old WoW?
If you aren’t playing 24/7 and you take breaks like you say then you are not addicted. You just enjoy the game. Addicted players play all day every day and can’t think of anything else. That was me in BC through WOD.
I think one thing to recognise (might not be obvious) is that WoW is addictive because the game / rewards system is specifically designed to be addictive. What has helped me in managing the addiction is having defined boundaries around what I am unwilling to let WoW interfere with in my life.
7 Νοε 2009 · An addiction to WoW, just like any Video Game addiction, is not a true addiction like to alcohol or drugs. Usually outside factors (which can be quite covert) drive a player to look for a distraction, which WoW provides.

If you truly cant get a hold of it, and its causing problems in other parts of your life. try and talk to someone about it, and I dont mean us on GD. For those who get addicted easily, seek help. Not a jab. I mean it. get help.
Playing a game does not make you an addict. If you're losing social connections, becoming incredibly unhealthy, neglecting responsibilities, denying it.. THEN you are addicted. People naturally think that computer/video games are unhealthy addictions because SURPRISINGLY some people find them fun.
