If you are a fourth grade teacher in Virginia, then chances are you teach your students about Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. Today, I thought I'd share some of my favorite books, activities, and resources to help you with this standard.
Students will use geographic tools to examine the influence of physical and cultural geography on Virginia history. Ideas that form the foundation for political institutions in Virginia and the United States also will be included as part of the story of Virginia.
How is this related to climate? Data collected from tree-rings in Virginia indicate that the Roanoke Colony was founded and then disappeared during the most extreme drought in the area in the previous 800 years, which occurred between 1587 and 1589.
