Pet. Pets provide increasingly beneficial buffs gradually as you use them. There are 5 pets but you can only use one pet at a time. Pets can be obtained right from the first trip (low but highest chance). The magnitudes of their buffs increase, or they increase in effectiveness as you level them up.

3 rods are designed for treasure and the rest are primarily for fish. The alien rod gets both fish and treasure equally well. *: The supporter rod is unlocked at level 1 every prestige if and only if you have donated a donation rank (excluding global booster purchases) or are in prestige 3 or above.
Fish are the main items you get when you fish, being present in different amounts every trip. There are 17 types of fish. All fish are unlocked when the biome they first appear in are unlocked. 5 types of fish are available for each biome (+):
Biomes are locations which you can fish in. You catch different fish using different rods in each biome. When you unlock a biome the rods specialized for this biome are also unlocked along with a few other features including upgrades, biome-specific rods and boats.
There are 8 types of charms, found in higher tier chests by fishing or in dailies and vote crates. Charms are unlocked at level 20. They give increasingly beneficial buffs automatically per tier increment to various different statistics, which include increasing buffs or reducing cooldown.
