19 Ιουν 2024 · The vocal cords, or vocal folds, are situated within the larynx, also known as the voice box, in the throat. They're pivotal in generating sound for speech and singing, vibrating when air flows through them from the lungs. Click for PDF and Google Slides worksheets.
30 Οκτ 2023 · There are two folds, one on either side of the laryngeal cavity. Each fold is comprised of a vocal ligament, a vocalis muscle and a covering mucous membrane. Vibration of these folds in response to air traveling through the larynx allows us to speak, sing, and produce other vocal sounds.
The Vocal Folds (plicœ vocales; inferior or true vocal cords) are concerned in the production of sound, and enclose two strong bands, named the vocal ligaments (ligamenta vocales; inferior thyroarytenoid).
The vocal ligament is the free superior margin of the conus elasticus (cricothyroid membrane). It extends from the internal surface of the thyroid cartilage to the vocal process of the arytenoid cartilages. The vocal ligament is covered by a layer of mucosa.
DOWNLOAD THE FREE TEMPLATE AND DISCOVER: How the laryngeal cartilages relate to each other. How the structures relate to sound production (how you make low and high pitches). How the movement of the cartilages changes the length and tension of the vocal folds.
In this video the anatomy of ligaments and vocal folds of the larynx is shown and explained. This video is in the "3D Anatomy Lyon" series from the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon, France.
