8 Νοε 2018 · Three simple push in connections, tuck the wires in the box, screw in the device. If you opt for this method, I find it is better to pre tail the ground wires with insulated wire... It is one more safeguard against ground or arc fault breakers tripping with novice installers.
Wondering what the pros thought of Wagos, if they've ever seen any of them fail and whether they'd recommend for a DIYer. Do any of you use them yourself? Watch videos on testing... pullout strength and current overloads. It definitely changed my opinion, having been a hardcore wire nut user for 40 years. I use them a lot now, but not exclusively.
Earlier this year, I purchased a bunch of Wago 221s from Amazon. With all the reports of counterfeits I'm now concerned as to whether I got the real deal. The two dealers were Peppy Products LLC and Light in Depot, LLC.
They are far more likely to rely on a knife's edge of metal for their electrical connection (no bus bar) unless inserted perfectly straight, and they are a cheap addition for convenience, not safety. More expensive outlets will use backwiring via pressure plates, making a far better connection.
19 Σεπ 2017 · There is no harm in using a connector of higher rating than needed, provided it is suitable for the size (i.e. CSA in mm²) and type of cable (i.e. solid/stranded/fine stranded aka flexible). For example push-wire types will not accept fine-stranded but most lever types will; some push-wire will accept stranded while others won't.

I have tried both, and I think the Ideal connector levers are more secure than those on the small Wago 221 version. On the new small Wago 221 connectors, I have found the levers tend to lift easily. 2 Μαρ 2024 · I recently used Wago when installing two wall mounted lights in the bathroom. I feel that, as a non-pro who only infrequently does electric work, the Wago are easier and more reliable. I think you need less skill and experience to get a good connection with a Wago than with a wire nut.
