Please be aware that your first 90 days (3 months), your PTO & PPTO balances are inaccessible to you... meaning that you cannot utilize them during your "probationary period". Once you get past that threshold, you'll be able to use the balances as you deem fit.
PTO (Personal Time Off) is normal time off. If you are out you can use it to still get paid, but it counts against your attendance. This should be used like vacation time, or personal time off by requesting that time off so it does not count against you.

• If your PPTO balance is 80 hours or more, you will carry over 80 hours of PPTO and receive a cash-out of any PPTO balance over 80 hours, as well as any regular PTO balance you may have. • If your PPTO balance is less than 80 hours, all your PPTO will carry over.

Check your PTO balance and request both Protected PTO and regular PTO in the GTA portal. You will never lose unused Protected PTO! Any unused amount will be carried over to the next plan year. A portion of your regular PTO balance may be cashed out to you at the end of the plan year in February.
