In order to understand the construction process involved in replacing or remediating the underground natural gas piping system, one should know the three basic piping terms: main line, service line, and gas meter. A main line is the pipe that carries natural gas to multiple customers and extended areas.
Our online Project Map provides detailed information about the location of Washington Gas' pipe replacement projects and outages displayed on a Google-integrated map. In addition to the project map, you may also email us at construction@washgas.com or call 703-750-5100 for more information.
