1 Ιουλ 2022 · Thermal management is a major challenge for new generation turbofan aero-engines. One of the most promising heat exchangers are the so-called surface air-cooled oil coolers (SACOCs). In this study, an experimental methodology is proposed and implemented in order to characterize SACOCs mounted in turbofan bypass ducts.

25 Ιουν 2018 · This study compares the performance of conventionally-built plate-fin air–liquid crossflow heat exchangers (i.e., aircraft oil coolers) to additively manufactured heat exchangers of similar geometry.
The most common type employed is the indirect-contact heat exchanger. In direct-contact exchangers, heat transfer between fluids occurs through direct interaction, ideally without mixing or leakage. The fluids come into direct contact, exchange heat, and are then separated.
26 Απρ 2017 · The literature on aviation heat exchangers is voluminous and continues to be updated today. Two main aspects of this class of flow systems are widely investigated: fluid flow and heat transfer performances, and criteria for evaluating those performances.
An air/fuel heater uses warm compressor bleed air to heat the fuel. An oil/fuel exchanger heats the fuel with hot engine oil. This latter type is often referred to as a fuel-cooled oil cooler (FCOC).
26 Νοε 2018 · The present study investigates the feasibility of using heat pump technology for oil cooling to provide temperature lift as a means to reduce the air–oil heat exchanger surface area, which should offset the effect of adding the heat pump components mass and the compressor power consumption.
15 Απρ 2024 · This study investigates the application of compact heat exchangers for the purpose of intercooling and recuperation systems for short-to-medium range aircraft equipped with hydrogen-fueled turbofan engines. The primary objective is to assess the potential effects of engine-integrated compact heat exchangers on fuel consumption and emissions.
