CHSSA - Debate Judge Instructions. Why debate? By preparing for and participating in debates, pupils learn to find and use information to support their arguments. They also learn how to present their ideas clearly and persuasively.
Debating is a largely self-regulating activity where all the participants understand the rules and respect the need to follow them – that’s part of what kids learn in debate better than almost anywhere else in their education.
This page is the official home of the WBFL, in Area III of the California High School Speech Association. It governs speech and debate at the league and state qualifying level for schools West of Pomona and South of Mulholland Drive.

DEBATE WALL. 2023-2024. To make the WALL OF CHAMPIONS, a student must go undefeated at a league debate tournament or qualify for the state tournament. To make the list of DEBATERS OF DISTINCTION, a student must have only one loss at a league debate tournament.
