The success of Zink Lake in Tulsa inspired a proposal for more in-river, low water dams (LWD) on the Arkansas River. The Arkansas River Corridor Master Plan (INCOG, 2005) would be the basis for locating two high-priority dam locations to be partially funded by Vision 2025 funds.
30 Αυγ 2024 · The new dam features additional gates, a stair-step design and measures to reduce dangerous undertows. A 1,000-foot recreational flume with seven play zones for water access also was added, stabilizing the east bank and creating Zink Lake, which spans approximately 2.5 miles with a maximum water depth of 10 feet.
