Intervention in a school context refers to targeted support provided to students struggling academically or behaviorally. Its purpose is to identify and address students’ needs early, fostering an inclusive learning environment. Effective interventions improve academic performance and social skills by providing customized assistance.

Special education majors are eligible for dual licensure in the areas of special education: mild intervention and intense intervention, which enables them to serve children who experience mild to severe emotional, learning, or intellectual disabilities in kinderg arten through grade 6.
The Teacher Certification program in Special Education is offered in Mild and Intense Intervention. It is designed for licensed Indiana Elementary and Secondary Ed teachers, who want to complete a licensure addition in Mild or Intense Intervention.
